Unnao Rape Case Timeline: Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar convicted.

Expelled BJP MLA, Kuldeep Sengar is found guilty of kidnapping and raping a minor girl of Unnao. The incident happened two years back in 2017, and it shocked the whole country. After the victim brought the incident to light, the BJP expelled the MLA and a charge sheet was filed against him.

Today, the Delhi High court convicted the former BJP MLA and praised the survivor by fighting against powerful people with courage. The court also questioned CBI about the delay in filing the charge sheet. The sentence will be announced on Thursday, 19th December.

But, if you see the timeline of incidents from 2017 to 2019, the 2-year fight from accusation to the conviction of BJP MLA was not easy for the brave victim. She and her family have to suffer the grief of a lifetime.

Let's have a look at the timeline of events:


2017


June 4: The 17-year old girl went missing from the village. The family filed a missing report. June 21: The girl was found in Aurraiya (a district in UP) June 22: A case is registered from kidnapping.

2018:


April 3: Her father was thrashed by Segar's brother and allegedly framed and arrested in an illegal arms case. April 8: The survivor brought the case to public notice when she tried to set herself ablaze outside CM Yogi's residence. April 9: Her father died in judicial custody. Post-mortem report listed the cause of death as "blood poisoning due to perforation of colon" April 12: Sengar and accomplices were arrested by CBI.

2019


July 2: The uncle of the victim was convicted in a 19-year-old case by one of the rape accused and was sentenced to a 10-year prison. July 28: A girl and her lawyer were hit in a car accident and fought for their life. August 1: BJP expelled the accused leader from the party. Today: Former BJP MLA is convicted.
