12 private labs are approved by the government for Covid-19 test - The Project Quote News

The government has approved 12 private labs to test coronavirus samples, union ministry of health and family welfare said on Monday.


Out of these 12 labs, 6 are in Maharastra, which has reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases. Other labs will setup in Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Gurjrat, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu.


“We have registered 12 private labs which have over 15,000 collection centres. As far as the testing kits are concerned, we are also approving the indigenous kits on a fast track basis so that the tests can be done quickly and we can detect positive persons. We are also accepting the kits approved by the National Institute of Virology," said Balram Bhargava, Director General at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
